Medical Detox

Medical Detox

The First Step

Detoxification, or detox, is the process of the body eliminating toxic substances from the body. The body may go through a process of withdrawal as the body begins to free itself from the toxic substances and adjust to life without the toxic substance. Withdrawal manifests itself as physical and mental symptoms that make staying off drugs difficult.

For patients experiencing addiction or dependence on opioids, detoxification is one of the first steps in recovery. Medical detox offers safe, medically-assisted care to help patients manage withdrawal symptoms.

Medical detox minimizes the risks involved in detoxification and withdrawal, while increasing safety and comfort for patients.

Our Medical Detox Program

Upon admission, patients who require detoxification services will meet with their medical and mental health care team – including a board-certified physician, board-certified psychiatrist, licensed psychologist, and other supportive staff.

Our medical team led by Dr. James P. Watson will provide a comprehensive evaluation to determine the appropriate level of care. The physician will do a medication assessment and will collaborate with the patient to ensure that the detoxification process is both smooth and comfortable.
